NDIS – Aspire Journey Support Coordination

Understanding the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national program that provides funding to support Australians living with a permanent and significant disability.
It aims to help people build skills and independence so they can live life their way — with choice and control over the supports they receive.

The NDIS gives eligible participants access to individualised funding that can be used for supports and services that help them:

  • Increase independence

  • Build confidence and capacity

  • Participate more fully in their community

  • Work towards personal goals and aspirations

How the NDIS Works

When you become an NDIS participant, you’ll receive a personalised plan that includes your goals and the funding available to help you achieve them.
Your NDIS plan is designed around you — your needs, preferences, and life situation.

NDIS funding is divided into three main support categories:

  • Core Supports – For everyday activities that help you live your daily life (e.g. personal care, transport, community access, and consumables).

  • Capacity Building Supports – For building your skills and independence (e.g. therapies, training, employment, and support coordination).

  • Capital Supports – For one-off or high-cost items like equipment, assistive technology, or home modifications.

Support Coordination and the NDIS

Support Coordination sits under the Capacity Building category of your NDIS plan.
It’s designed to help you understand your plan, connect with service providers, and make your funding work best for your needs.

At Aspire Journey Support Coordination, we provide support across all levels:

  • Support Connection (Level 1) – Basic help linking you to services.

  • Support Coordination (Level 2) – Ongoing guidance, coordination, and capacity building.

  • Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) – Intensive coordination for complex needs.

NDIS Planning and Reviews

NDIS plans are reviewed regularly — usually every 12 months — to make sure your supports are still meeting your needs.
We can help you:

  • Prepare for your NDIS planning meeting or review

  • Review your goals and progress

  • Identify new supports you may need

  • Provide reports and updates to the NDIA if required

We make the review process simple and supportive, ensuring your plan grows with you.

Managing Your NDIS Plan

You can manage your NDIS funding in different ways, depending on your preferences:

  • NDIA-managed – The NDIA pays your providers directly.

  • Plan-managed – A registered plan manager pays providers on your behalf and helps you track your budget.

  • Self-managed – You handle your own invoices and payments, giving you full control over your supports.

  • Combination – You can mix and match these options for different parts of your plan.

We can work with any type of plan management — helping you coordinate supports, track progress, and communicate with your plan manager or the NDIA.
